Wilmarth Lake and its surrounding wetlands anchor the northern portion of this landscape in Aurora County. The terrain is defined by the winding course of the W Br Firesteel Cr, which feeds into the larger lake basin before continuing its path eastward. This 2012 survey illustrates the classic section-line road grid characteristic of the Great Plains, where routes like 243rd St and 382nd Ave provide structure to the rural territory. Further south, Shottenkirk Lake represents one of the many smaller prairie potholes scattered across the quadrangle. The presence of Co Hwy-21 in the northwest corner highlights the primary transport artery connecting these remote farmsteads and water bodies.
