Argyle Ridge dominates the center of this terrain where the border of Duchesne Co and Carbon Co follows the high ground. To the north, the drainage system of Argyle Cr carves out Argyle Canyon and Birch Bottom Canyon, with the northernmost reaches extending into the protected lands of Ashley National Forest. The landscape here is characterized by steep elevation changes, punctuated by the Bad Land Cliffs in the northeast.
