Y City sits at the northern edge of this Ouachita Mountains landscape, situated near the junction of US Hwy 71 270 and US Hwy 270. The terrain is defined by a series of prominent ridges, including Mill Creek Mtn, Fourche Mtn, and Blue Mtn, which frame the drainage basins of the Fourche La Fave River and Irons Fork. Much of the area is contained within the Ouachita National Forest, where the Ouachita National Recreation Trail and Fourche Mountain Trail provide access to the interior. Historically significant sites include the Chant Cem north of the main settlement. The southern portion of the map is dominated by the Irons Fork Reservoir, reflecting the modern hydrological management of the region's numerous creeks like Rough Cr and Steep Hollow Cr.
