The dramatic vertical relief of the Sierra Nevada is the primary focus of this modern topographic study, centered on the world-renowned drop of Upper Yosemite Fall and Lower Yosemite Fall. The landscape transitions from the high-elevation slopes of Mt Hoffmann and the granite expanse of Coyote Rocks down into the iconic Yosemite Valley. Dramatic monoliths and vertical features such as North Dome, Basket Dome, and the Watkins Pinnacles define the northern rim of the valley, while Indian Canyon and Royal Arch Cr provide significant drainage routes for snowmelt.
