About this map

Old Fort Beauregard Ruins stand along the northern shore of this St. Bernard Parish landscape, overlooking the waters of Lake Borgne. The mid-1990s environment is dominated by an intricate network of marshes and lagoons, significantly altered by the Mississippi River - Gulf Outlet Canal which cuts directly through the coastal wetlands. Settlement is concentrated along the natural levees of Bayou La Loutre, where the fishing communities of Yscloskey, Alluvial City, and Hopedale maintain a fragile presence between the rising waters.
