Barronette Peak and Abiathar Peak dominate this high-elevation corner of Yellowstone National Park, where steep drainages and jagged summits define the northern Absaroka Range. The landscape is carved by the waters of Soda Butte Creek and Pebble Creek, which converge near a series of established campsites and a Campground. This 1989 provisional study illustrates the backcountry infrastructure necessary for park management, including the Cache Creek Patrol Cabin and a network of Pack Trails that navigate through Round Prairie and beneath the massive face of The Thunderer. The map provides an essential record of the area's wilderness character before late-20th-century ecological shifts, marking specific navigation points like Buck Lake and the precipitous Icebox Canyon Creek.
