Acorn Hollow and the surrounding drainage basins of the eastern Sacramento Valley reveal a landscape defined by seasonal watercourses and prominent ridgelines. The transition from the flatlands into the foothills is marked by a series of north-south running heights, including Campo Seco Ridge, Red Ridge, and Allen Ridge. These formations guide the flow of numerous streams such as Mill Cr, Wildcat Cr, and Deer Creek, which carve deep incisions into the terrain like Wildcat Canyon and Hubbard Gulch.

Local landmarks such as Ballard Spring and the small Horseshoe Pond indicate the critical role of water management in this environment. To the south, the terrain levels slightly into Morris Flat and the edges of the valley, where Reed Orchard Rd provides one of the few named access routes. This 2021 survey documents the intricate network of hollows, from the expansive Twentymile Hollow to the more confined Tenmile Hollow, illustrating the complex topography of Tehama County.
