Mining exploration and railroad history define this high-country landscape along the divide between Idaho and Montana. The former settlement at Adair (Site) serves as a primary historical anchor, located near a tunnel where the Old RR Grade cuts through the mountains. This 1988 provisional survey documents the extensive network of pack trails and extractive infrastructure that once dominated the Bitterroot Range, including the Hansy Mines and numerous unnamed Prospects and Adits scattered across the steep drainages of Mineral Creek and Silver Creek.
