The Colville Valley floor serves as a vital transportation corridor in this 1965 survey, dominated by the winding course of the Colville River and the tracks of the Great Northern railroad. Near the valley's edge, the small settlement of Arden and the Twelvemile Sch mark the extent of early development. The landscape transitions abruptly from the agricultural flats into the high timber and rocky outcrops of the Iron Mountains, where Addy Mountain rises above the timberline.
