About this map

The town of Chewelah serves as the industrial and social hub of this mid-century survey, situated at the confluence of the North Fork Chewelah Creek and South Fork Chewelah Creek. The landscape is dominated by a prolific mining economy, with dozens of active and historic operations such as the United Copper No 2 Mine and the Amazon Mine concentrated along the slopes of Eagle Mtn and Quartzite Mtn. These operations are supported by a complex infrastructure of Tailings, Quarries, and the Great Northern Railroad corridor which bisects the valley floor.
