Inyo National Forest lands dominate the eastern portion of this high-altitude landscape, where the terrain shifts toward the northern reaches of Mono Valley. The area is defined by its rugged isolation and a sparse network of access routes tailored for utility and resource management. Notable among these is Pole Line Rd, which cuts across the northern basin, and Dobie Meadows Rd, traversing the northwest corner. In the northeastern corner, the elevation drops sharply into Deep Cañon.
