Big Satilla Creek and Bishop Creek define the low-lying drainage patterns across the border of Appling and Bacon counties. This 2017 survey shows the outskirts of Baxley as a landscape of rural agricultural tracts connected by a dense network of family-named roads, including Corinth Cemetery Rd and Miles Chapel Church Rd. These roads often lead to historical community hubs, such as Unity Cemetery and Springfield Cemetery, which remain as markers of the area's ancestral settlement.
