The Talkeetna Mountains define this high-altitude landscape in the Matanuska-Susitna region, where steep drainages and glacial valleys form the primary geographic interest. The drainage system is dominated by the westward-flowing Boulder Creek, which appears elsewhere on the sheet as Boulder Cr. Its southern tributary, East Boulder Creek (also labeled E Boulder Cr), cuts through the southern sections of the quadrangle. This 2016 survey focuses on an area largely devoid of human infrastructure, instead highlighting the natural topographic relief and the hydrological patterns that have shaped these subarctic peaks. The map provides precise contour data for the ridge lines and creek beds that serve as primary landmarks for those navigating the backcountry of Southcentral Alaska.
