The confluence of the Deschutes River and the Little Deschutes River anchors this central Oregon landscape, where riverine wetlands meet the volcanic slopes of the Deschutes National Forest. The residential and resort development of Sunriver occupies the northern reach, including the historic Harper Cem, while the community of Three Rivers sits further south. The terrain is defined by prominent volcanic features such as Anns Butte and Camp Abbot Buttes, with the northern flank of the Newberry Volcano rising to the east.
