Arrastra Mountain and the Poachie Range dominate this corner of the Mojave Desert in Mohave County. The landscape is defined by a complex network of ephemeral watercourses, including Snake Spring Wash, Government Wash, and Valencia Wash, which drain the elevated terrain toward lower basins. This 2014 survey reveals a transition between high desert peaks and low-lying alluvial plains, where water is the primary sculptor of the land. A few isolated water sources appear in the high country, such as Poachie Spring and Black Canyon Spring, providing critical points of interest in an otherwise arid environment. Along the northeast edge, the Joshua Tree Forest Pky of Arizona follows the path of Us-93, marking the only major transportation corridor through this wilderness area.
