The Saint Joe River flows through the northern reaches of this high-elevation wilderness, where the boundary between St. Joe National Forest and Clearwater National Forest follows the prominent ridgelines. The terrain is defined by a series of significant peaks and points, most notably Bacon Peak and the nearby Ruby Point. Further south, the landscape is marked by the distinctive Five Lakes Butte and the long stretch of Indian Henry Ridge.
