Canyon Meadow and several other dispersed Navajo settlements occupy this high-elevation plateau, where the Lukachukai Mountains meet the Chuska Mountains. The landscape is a network of named mesas and landforms, including Sitting Coyote Mesa and the distinctive The Pillow, intersected by seasonal drainages like Greasewood Wash and Tohotso Cr. The topography here dictates human movement, as seen in the way Indian Rte 12 and Indian Rte 13 snake around the edges of Supai Mesa and Mid Wide Mesa.
