Stansbury Island rises prominently from the southern reaches of the Great Salt Lake, dominating the southeastern portion of this 2014 survey. The island’s steep topography is defined by features such as Pass Canyon and leads north to Boulder Point and the quiet waters of Sandy Beach Bay. A single terrestrial link, Stansbury Island Rd, provides the only mapped access along the western shoreline facing Crystal Bay. To the northwest, the isolated landmasses of Badger Island and the southern tip of Carrington Island sit within the shallow, expansive brine. This cartography illustrates the stark boundary between the mountainous desert islands and the fluctuating shoreline of the salt lake, capturing a modern view of a prehistoric landscape where travel is dictated by both the rugged terrain and the variable water levels.
