Badger Peak stands as the central landmark in this 2014 survey of the southern Black Mountains, where the high terrain of Hot Springs Peaks meets the eastern margins of the Escalante Desert. The landscape is defined by a series of prominent summits, including Twin Peaks and Monument Peak, which rise above a complex system of drainage canyons. Among these are the numerically sequenced First Canyon, Second Canyon, and Third Canyon, cutting through the western slopes toward the desert floor.
