The Black Mountains dominate this portion of Iron County, rising sharply from the eastern edge of the Escalante Desert. This high-altitude landscape is defined by a series of prominent summits, including Badger Peak, Mule Peak, and the distinctive Twin Peaks. The terrain is deeply incised by a succession of drainage features, notably First Canyon, Second Canyon, and Third Canyon, which channel seasonal runoff toward the desert floor.
