About this map

The Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge occupies much of this landscape, characterized by an extensive system of Flowing Wells and low-lying wetlands. Along the western edge, Hansen Bluff rises above the valley floor, while the Sangre de Cristo range begins its ascent to the east. The presence of numerous wells across the terrain indicates a reliance on the artesian basin of the San Luis Valley during the mid-1960s.
