Bass Canyon sits at the high-desert divide between the Hudspeth and Culberson County line in Far West Texas. The landscape is dominated by the dramatic rise of the Carrizo Mountains to the north and the Van Horn Mountains to the south, separated by the expansive lowlands of the Eagle Flat Draw. This arid environment is defined by its drainage patterns, most notably the seasonal course of the Green River, which snakes through the southern reaches of the quadrangle.
