Batavia serves as the northern anchor for this study of Genesee County, where the historic street grid gives way to a sprawling landscape of glacial ponds and winding waterways. The course of Tonawanda Creek meanders through the western half of the territory, passing the small settlements of Alexander and North Alexander. The southern reaches are defined by a network of smaller hamlets including West Bethany, Brookville, and Linden, connected by old country roads like Telephone Rd.
