About this map

Lake Iamonia and its surrounding wetlands dominate the southern landscape of this border region, where the state line divides Grady County and Leon County. The terrain is defined by complex water systems, including Strickland Arm and Foshalee Slough, which feed into the primary lake basin. To the north, the elevation rises toward Rocky Hill and the small settlements of Beachton and Moncrief. The presence of numerous family and community burial sites, such as New Ochlocknee Cem, Evergreen Cem, and Van Brunt Cem, indicates a deeply rooted rural population. Transportation is anchored by Thomasville Rd, which cuts through the heart of the settlement at Iamonia, while the Ocklockonee River winds through the northwestern corner, marking the lower reaches of the Georgia coastal plain before it crosses into Florida.
