The Ochlockonee River flows through the northwestern corner of this landscape, which straddles the border between Georgia and Florida. This region is defined by its numerous water bodies and wetlands, ranging from Hawkins Lake in the north to the expansive Lake Iamonia in the south. The latter is a complex system of arms and islands, including Van Brunt Arm, Strickland Arm, and several named islands such as Sheep Island and Mitchell Island.
