Stillwater Reservoir dominates the lower half of this landscape, its complex shoreline and island-dotted waters providing the central orientation for the remote hamlet of Beaver River. Located at the eastern end of the reservoir, the settlement is accessed by a small network of local roads including Flow Rd and the aptly named Easy St. The surrounding terrain is a dense network of water bodies, including Witchhopple Lake, Salmon Lake, and Crooked Lake, illustrating the glacial hydrology of the Adirondack highlands.
