Pleasant Valley and the small settlements of Hemlock and Beaver anchor this portion of the Oregon Coast Range, where the landscape is defined by the headwaters and tributaries of several major river systems. The Tillamook River flows through the northern reaches near Yellow Fir RD, while the Nestucca River winds through the southern section, joined by numerous mountain creeks such as Beaver Creek and Bummer Creek. Much of the eastern and western terrain is occupied by the Siuslaw National Forest, characterized by steep ridges and isolated water features like Battle Lake and Munson Creek Falls.
