The Cabinet Mountains define the high-elevation divide along the Idaho-Montana border, where the Bonner County line meets Lincoln County. This wilderness landscape is split between the Kaniksu National Forest to the west and the Kootenai National Forest to the east. The terrain is characterized by steep ridges and glacial basins, holding isolated water bodies like Moose Lake and Spruce Lake.
