Zia Pueblo occupies the northern reaches of this Sandoval County landscape, situated along the braided course of the Jemez River. The terrain is defined by a network of drainage systems, including the Arroyo Arenoso and Arroyo Ojito, which carve through the high desert floor. The southern portion of the map shows the continuing northward expansion of Rio Rancho, where the residential grid meets the open country of the Zia Reservation. Transportation through this transition zone relies on established routes such as Indian Svc Rte 785 and Indian Svc Rte 74. The contrast between the ancient settlement of the pueblo and the modern development of the city illustrates the modern demographic shift in the region.
