Wenatchee National Forest encompasses this high-elevation terrain, dominated by the massif of Big Jim Mtn and the surrounding alpine basins. The landscape is defined by a dense network of glacial lakes and dramatic ridgelines, including the prominent Icicle Ridge and McCue Ridge. Many of these water bodies, such as Lake Augusta, Loch Eileen, and Lake Julius, are tucked into high cirques, feeding a complex drainage system that includes Chiwaukum Creek and Hatchery Creek.
