2023 Map of Black Canyon

A network of named rural routes, including Heringa Rd and Swagerty Rd, connects isolated parcels of land across the township and range grid. The intersection of modern transportation and traditional land management is evident where Us-64 Us-87 and Us-56 Us-412 pass through the northern and southern reaches of the quadrangle. This 2023 survey documents the enduring spatial layout of northeastern New Mexico, where large-scale land divisions and seasonal creek beds define the human and natural geography.
