Tim Pond sits at the heart of this mountain landscape, its waters fed by several tributaries including Alder Inlet and Black Inlet. The terrain is defined by a series of prominent ridges and peaks, most notably Black Mtn and the uniquely named Elephants Head. The drainage system is complex, with Alder Stream and its many branches—including the Middle Br Alder Stream and S Br Alder Stream—carving deep valleys through the high ground.
