Upper Payette Campground sits at the southern edge of this high-elevation Idaho landscape, where the North Fork Payette River begins its southward journey. The terrain is defined by a series of prominent peaks and ridgelines, including Black Tip, Bruin Mountain, and the long spine of Center Ridge. These heights separate several significant drainage basins, most notably the waters of Little French Creek and the main branch of French Creek.
