The Yellowstone River carves through the northern reaches of Yellowstone National Park in this 2017 survey, defining the boundary between Wyoming and Montana. The waterway flows through the Black Canyon of the Yellowstone near the north-central edge of the quadrangle, where the Blacktail Bridge and Crevice Lake mark a rugged landscape of steep elevation changes. To the south, the topography rises toward the northern peaks of the Washburn Range, including the prominent summits of Folsom Peak and Prospect Peak.
