Board Corral Creek and its surrounding drainage basin define this corner of Carter County, characterized by a complex network of seasonal waterways and ranching infrastructure. The landscape is marked by numerous water management features essential for high-plains agriculture, including Evans Reservoir, Schmidt Reservoir, and the playfully named Little Britches Reservoir. These reservoirs catch runoff from various ephemeral streams such as H Seven Creek and O'Fallon Creek, which join larger systems like Buffalo Creek and Line Camp Creek to the north. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, the terrain transitions toward Alkali Creek and the distinct topographic notch of Whiskey Gulch. This 2011 survey reveals a remote Montana landscape where life and industry are dictated by the intermittent flow of water and the maintenance of small-scale reservoirs like Dugout Reservoir.
