Sacajawea Peaks and the Beaverhead Mountains define this high-altitude landscape along the Montana-Idaho state line. The survey traces the Continental Divide as it winds through the Beaverhead National Forest and Salmon National Forest, marking the boundary between Beaverhead County and Lemhi County. Numerous water sources are documented throughout the drainage basins, including the namesake Bohannon Spring, Chet Rowe Spring, and Albertson Spring.
