Dry Creek Ranch and a network of remote water sources define this high-desert landscape in Elko County, Nevada, as it appeared in the late 1960s. The terrain is marked by the branching headwaters of Jakes Creek, including the North Fork Jakes Creek, Middle Fork Jakes Creek, and South Fork Jakes Creek. These ephemeral waterways, along with named drainages like Dead Bull Creek and Camp Bull Creek, feed into the central Boies Reservoir.

Evidence of local ranching and resource extraction is scattered throughout the hills, where a Jeep Trail provides access to several Quarries, Pits, and a Prospect. Artificial water points such as Hubbard Well and Dry Creek Well highlight the critical infrastructure required for survival and industry in this arid environment. To the southeast, the landscape drops away into Harris Canyon, carved by Harris Creek.
