The Uinta River carves a deep path through this high-altitude landscape of Duchesne County, defining a drainage network fed by Painter Draw, Atwood Creek, and Bluebell Creek. This 2011 survey reveals a concentrated hub of human activity at the southern end of the river valley, where the U-Bar Ranch sits near the Smokey Springs Bridge. Recreational and agricultural infrastructure is evident in the transition from the Wandin Campground and Uinta Picnic Area to the engineering of the Lower Chain Lake Dam. Dozens of alpine water bodies, including Wild Goose Lake, Meadow Lake, and the map's namesake Bollie Lake, pepper the high country, linked by the descent of Krebs Creek and Clover Creek toward the main river channel.
