Booneville sits at the foot of Booneville Mtn in a landscape defined by sharp ridges and significant water management. This area of Logan County features a network of flood control structures along Sixmile Cr, including the Sixmile Cr Watershed Site 11 Reservoir and Sixmile Cr Watershed Site Five Reservoir. These reservoirs sit north of the distinct geological formations of Devils Backbone Ridge and Backbone Mtn, which separate the lower valleys from the northern highlands.

Local history is preserved in numerous family and community sites such as Oak Hill Cem on the edge of town and Lyles Chapel Cem further west. In the northern reaches, the small settlement of Chismville is surrounded by named peaks like Pilot Mtn and Metcalf Hill. The southern portion of the quadrangle follows the Petit Jean River, marking a transition from the rugged topography of Pisgah Mtn and Barber Ridge toward the river valley.
