The United States Mexico border follows the winding course of the Rio Grande through this isolated stretch of Brewster County, documented in the mid-1980s. The landscape is defined by the sharp transition between the river corridor and the high desert peaks of the Sierra Del Carmen and the Sierra Del Caballo Muerto.
