Boyd serves as the primary hub in this prairie landscape, where the town layout is centered on streets like Stockholm Ave and Park St. The surrounding agricultural countryside is defined by a rigorous grid of section lines and county roads, including Co Hwy 2 and Co Hwy 9. This 2016 survey documents the enduring local history of the region through its numerous rural burial grounds and places of worship, such as the Trinity church and its adjacent Trinity Cem. Further out in the township, the Ten Mile Lake Cem, Zion Cem, and Fridhem Cem mark the heritage of the early families who settled this portion of the Minnesota plains. The natural drainage of the area is highlighted by the winding path of Tenmile Cr, which cuts through the southwestern sections across the Lac qui Parle and Yellow Medicine County line.
