West Nueces River carves through the northern reaches of this landscape, flanked by the seasonal drainage of Leona Draw. The terrain is defined by a dense network of dry creek beds and draws, including E Pinto Cr, Elm Cr, and Lindsey Cr, which illustrate the complex drainage patterns of the Edwards Plateau. While much of the area consists of dissected uplands, the southeastern portion opens into Grass Valley, providing a shift in the local topography. This region is sparsely settled, with transportation and access facilitated by rural routes such as Tularosa Rd, FM 3199, and RM 334. Local aviation is represented by two private airstrips, the L Davis Ranch Airport near the river and the Tularosa Airport further south, reflecting the vast distances and ranching infrastructure typical of Kinney County.
