The Black River forms a defining western boundary for this Lewis County landscape, where the settlements of Greig and Lyons Falls anchor a transition from riverside lowlands to the protected highlands of the Adirondacks. To the east, the topography rises into the Adirondack Park Preserve, a region marked by numerous glacial water bodies including Brantingham Lake, Pleasant Lake, and the more secluded Catspaw Lake. This 2019 survey documents a network of rural roads such as Chases Lake Rd and Fish Creek Rd that connect dispersed homesites and small hamlets.
