Bridgewater sits at the confluence of several key waterways in this southwestern Iowa landscape, where the W Fork Middle Nodaway River meets the larger Middle Nodaway River. The terrain is defined by the drainage patterns of these rivers and their tributaries, including Thompson Cr and Elm Cr. This topography influenced the placement of early settlements and rural infrastructure across the borders of Cass, Adair, and Adams counties.
