The eastern shore of Lake Michigan in Berrien County is defined by a landscape of high dunes and residential lakefront communities. High points like Mt Edward, Mt Randall, and Great Warren Dune rise sharply from the coastline, creating a distinct topographical barrier between the water and the inland agricultural and residential developments of Bridgman and Sawyer. The presence of numerous burial grounds, including Graceland Cem, Greenwood Cem, and California School Cem, indicates a long-standing pattern of settlement across these townships.
