The Buena Vista area of Marion County transitions from a settled agricultural and rail landscape into the eastern reaches of the Fort Benning Military Reservation. The town itself serves as a focal point for the Central of Georgia railroad, which cuts through the southern half of the quadrangle. Outside the military boundary, the countryside is dotted with small rural communities like Brantley and Union, supported by numerous local institutions such as New Providence Church and St Pauls School.
