Lake Ocoee and the Ocoee River dominate this portion of the Cherokee National Forest, where the water's path is tracked by the industrial presence of the Ocoee Flume. The terrain is defined by the Tennessee Valley Divide and numerous named ridges, including Thornburg Ridge and Peavine Ridge, which separate the various creek drainages. Small settlements like Sylco and Caney Creek are interspersed with historical family landmarks, most notably the several small burial grounds such as Old Fairview Cem and Price Cem.
