Goodwater sits at the northern edge of this high desert landscape, where the seasonal flows of Lithodendron Wash and Little Lithodendron Wash converge. The terrain is defined by its stark geological formations, most notably the expansive Petrified Forest National Park which covers the central and southern portions of the sheet. This area is characterized by a complex network of dry washes and ephemeral drainage systems, including Twin Wash and Winsor Wash, that feed into the Puerco River.
