Caspian Lake and the surrounding highlands of the Northeast Kingdom are defined here by a network of small villages and agricultural valleys. The Lamoille River winds through the southern portion of the quadrangle, passing through the commercial and residential hubs of Hardwick and East Hardwick. To the north, the landscape centers on the clear waters of the lake, where settlements like Greensboro and Burlington Point have long served as summer retreats and local centers of community life.

Local history is deeply etched into the terrain through numerous burial grounds, including the Lincoln-Noyes Cem and Hazen Road Cem, which mark the early homesteads of the region. The path of the St J & L C RR traces the river valley, illustrating the industrial connection between these upland towns and the rest of Vermont.
