The Little North Fork Coeur d'Alene River winds through the southwestern portion of this Idaho landscape, which is defined by a dense network of high ridges and narrow creek drainages. Dominant heights include Cataract Peak, Colt Mountain, and Flora Miller Hill, while numerous named saddles like Solitaire Saddle and Walker Saddle mark the historical traversals between steep canyons. The drainage pattern is exceptionally detailed, featuring a complex system of tributaries such as Iron Creek, Independence Creek, and Picnic Creek. Local infrastructure is represented by Forest Service corridors including Nat For Dev Rd 794 and the Little North Fork Rd, which follow the natural contours of the land. This 2011 survey documents the terrain and watershed of Kootenai County as it appeared in the early 21st century.
